The College of Information Sciences and Computing offers the BS in Information Technology (BSIT) program since June of 2005. This SY 2021-2022 is the seventeenth (17th) year of offering of the BSIT program. In school year 2021-2022, the Dean of the College of Engineering is Kent Levi A. Bonifacio . The classrooms, offices, and computer laboratories are located at the College of Information Sciences and Computing which is approximately three hundred (280) meters from the university main gate going to the right direction. CMU is approximately one hundred twenty kilometers from Cagayan de Oro City and one hundred seventy five (175) kilometers from Davao City of Mindanao Philippines.

The BSIT program curriculum that was first offered in June of 2005 was based on the standards of the Information Technology Education (ITE) as promulgated by the Commission on Higher Education Memorandum Order No. 25 (CMO 25) series of 2001. In SY 2013-2014, the revised curriculum has been implemented based on Commission on Higher Education Memorandum Order No. 53 (CMO 53) series of 2006.

The College aims to produce graduates who will be IT professionals with the ability to:

  • Understand and apply the knowledge in computing, science and mathematics in the field of information technology with best practices and standards.
  • Idenfiy and analyze simple to complex problems and define computing requirements appropriate to its solution.
  • Collaborate and function effectively as a memeber or leader of a development team recoginizing the different roles in creating IT project plans and effectively integrating IT-based solutions into the user environment.
  • Apply knowledge in addressing and solving computing and ither IT-related issues and problems through the appropriate use if current techniques, skills, tools and practices.
  • Communicate effectively with the computing community and with society at large about activities in the field of information technology through teaching, logical writing, presentations, and clear instructions.
  • Assess the local and global impact of computing information technology on individuals, organizations, and society.
  • Understand professional, ethical, legal, security and social issues and commit to the responsibilities in the utilization of information technology.
  • Recognize the need for and have the capability in planning self-learning and improving performance as a foundation for being a life-long learner and continuing professional development.
  • Analyze user needs and situatios and take them into consideration under various constraints in the design, selection, creation, evaluation, implementation and administration of computer-based systems.
